Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety and Depression
At Your Path Counselling we teach people the skills they need to overcome anxiety, depression and other psychological problems. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT for short, is the most researched, evidence-based treatment that combines education, skill development, and behavioral change. By applying the skills that you will learn at Your Path you will start to feel better .
In your sessions with your therapist you will focus on everyday problems that are contributing to your distress. Together, you will identify and work on beliefs, thoughts, physical symptoms, emotions, and behaviors. You will begin to have a clearer understanding on how you interpret your world and how to effectively change your thought patterns and behaviors.
CBT offers you a roadmap and strategies that are very effective in reducing troublesome symptoms, and improving your well-being. This may include structured exercise, changes in lifestyle and slowly being exposed to things that you fear. Most people find CBT easy to understand and find the psychoeducational aspects of this therapy to be extremely helpful. Due to the knowledge and skills you gain in CBT, you may in a fairly short period of time see improvement in your symptoms.
CBT is an evidence-based approach for treatment of anxiety, depression, panic disorders, obsessive compulsive behaviors and social anxiety.
